Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

Several years ago after a tragic year of loss and then a car accident in December, I was unprepared to “usher in the New Year on January 1st.”  As well, it never made any sense to me to usher in a New Year in the middle of winter. Instead, Spring, when life is renewing itself, made much more sense. So, being of Irish heritage, I determined that my personal New Year’s would be St. Patrick’s Day!.

I have never been to Ireland, however, I have recently determined that it is time to go and walk among the hills and gardens. I don’t want to rush in and do a typical tour of all the castles. Instead, I want to go, stay, talk with the locals, and spend some time writing down whatever thoughts being there brings up in me. In the interim, however, please enjoy this Irish wish I received this week from my friend.

AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH

  May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin or two;

May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

May the hand of a friend always be near you;

 May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
